The Afro Women in Animation community launch event, held last Saturday, was a dynamic and inspiring gathering aimed at celebrating the contributions of women in the animation industry and fostering a supportive network for professionals in this field. The event, which spanned from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, featured a diverse range of activities designed to engage, empower, and connect attendees.

The day began with a warm welcome and registration period, allowing participants to check in and mingle with fellow attendees. This was followed by an engaging opening speech from Omoyefe Majoroh, which set the tone for the event and highlighted the significance of supporting women in animation. She also resounded the values, mission and vision of the community as well as the benefits of being a member.

A highlight of the event was the speed networking session, where participants had the opportunity to meet and connect with industry peers in a dynamic and interactive setting. This was complemented by a creative storytelling circle, where attendees collaborated to craft imaginative stories related to animation, fostering creativity and camaraderie among participants.

During the lunch break, attendees enjoyed networking opportunities over a shared meal, further strengthening connections and facilitating discussions about potential collaborations and future endeavours. Following lunch, participants had the chance to share their personal stories and experiences related to their journey into animation, providing valuable insights and inspiration to their peers.

The event concluded with a spirited game of animation charades, where teams worked together to act out beloved characters without speaking, showcasing their creativity and teamwork skills. The closing ceremony expressed gratitude to all participants for their contributions and highlighted key moments from the day, while also announcing future plans for the Afro Women in Animation community.
