INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2021

On Tuesday, 8th March 2021, in honor of International Women’s Day, we hosted a panel discussion titled ‘MY JOURNEY AS A WOMAN IN ANIMATION.’

The panel featured esteemed members of the animation industry: Damilola Solesi from SMIDS ANIMATION STUDIO, Eguvwe Majomi Yugbovwre from AJEBOTOONS, and Yetunde Olamide Ogundipe from BEEREEL PICTURES. Moderating the discussion was Korede Johnson from BASEMENT ANIMATION STUDIO.

Throughout the event, panelists shared their inspiring success stories, delved into the challenges they’ve faced, and offered insights on how aspiring women can carve their paths in the Animation Industry.

Their discussions provided valuable perspectives and guidance, emphasizing empowerment and encouragement for women in animation.

Additionally, we conducted a session where participants were guided through the production process of the Emeka’s Money Short Film. This hands-on experience provided them with a captivating insight into our animation production methods, fostering excitement and engagement.

Looking ahead, Basement Animation Studio is committed to further supporting women in animation through the organization of an Internship Program. This program will offer opportunities for aspiring Script Writers, Voice Over Artists, Character Designers, Storyboard Artists, and Animators. Stay tuned for more information on this initiative.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Olajide Oyewole LLP (A member of DLA Piper Africa), Step Up for Social Development and Empowerment in Nigeria (Step Up Nigeria), and Mhframe Production Limited for their invaluable support.

Our studio aims to continue hosting events like these, to make a positive impact on society and foster growth within the animation industry.
